PCN appointed to Labour Court Joint Committee for ELT Sector

David Russell Chair of the Progressive College Network appointed Labour Court Joint Committee on English Language Schools

The team at MP Moloney would like to pass our congratulations to David Russell, Chairman of the Progressive College Network on his appointment to the Labour Court Joint Committee on English language Schools in Ireland. The Committee was established to seek to agree a common agreement on the terms of employment of workers in this sector, particularly English language teachers. Speaking of his appointment David Russell welcomed the announcement.

“I am pleased with the appointment to the Committee” Mr. Russell said. “It means that the PCN and its member colleges are part of the conversation around working terms and conditions for employees in this sector. The member colleges of the PCN all benefit from a bespoke and unique insurance policy that not only protects the students in the event of college closure, but also the salaries of staff and teachers. No other organisation in this sector provides this protection for staff and we are pleased to be the market leaders in this area. We will bring our unique perspective to the Committee in the hope that it will set the standard for other colleges outside the Network.”

The Progressive College Network comprises a collective of well-established and market leading English language Schools in Ireland. Since its establishment in 2015 it has advocated for many issues affecting the industry particularly in the context of the soon to be implemented International Education Mark (IEM).

As specialist solicitors in the field of ILEP and regulations for English Language Schools in Ireland we are pleased to assist the PCN in its ongoing efforts to enhance and improve standards in the industry whilst also representing the interests of member colleges in consultations with the Irish Government on the incoming suite of regulations applying to the IEM.
